In the first few days we visited the most famous sights, of course, like every tourist would do. We saw the huge bridge, which I photographed from different direction as well as the Opera House and lots of other things. From time to time see people walking on top of the bridge, I guess they are hooked up to a robe. It is very interesting to see. This atraction costs about 150A$, so we decided ‘not’ to do it. You can also see the australian flag on top.

Here you can see the port of Sydney, there are also all these street artists.

I guess everybody saw the Opera House already, if it was on tv or somewhere else, but when you want you can still take a look. The draft and architecture was designed by a skandinavian guy who got the idea when he peeled an orange. Interesting, huh?! To see the Opera House from inside you would have to pay around 32A$ that’s why we decided to ‘just’ walk around. :-)

Alright, so now we are in Melbourne, the city where every one of us will start studying soon. As we arrived in Melbourne we searched for a backpacker and so far we liked it over there. We have been there for over a week now. Basically you see downtown Melbourne on my pictures. On one picture you see me putting my on a glass panel, that’s in the National Art Gallery. You can marvel at some extraordinary art over there.
You can see the tourist information centre on some of my pictures, those pictures with the abstract buildings!! That’s where we went first to get all the information we need to save money among other thingsJ. The first day we’ve been there we went to our Campus. It is located about 60 miles far away from Melbourne. It seemed nice and our coordinators were very hospitable. So we arrived on the 7/20/04 and our orientation started on the 22nd of July. It was very interesting because the first person who came into the room was a nurse. She explained everything about eating healthy and stuff like that. Basically people came in from all organisations to vary from the nurse to the policeman. So all in all we got to know each other by having breakfast and lunch. Some students are from Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, England and France. Next day they already organised a trip to the Zoo. Very nice, seeing some Australian animals like Koalas, Kangaroos etc… as you can see on the pictures.
Before we went inside we saw those incredible cars standing in front of the Zoo. Of course everybody checked out the Lamborghinis for at least 15 minutes. Later on we also watched a bird show with some vultures, sea eagles etc… After the long trip we went to TGI Fridaysand had dinner over there. Of course we got stuck there for couple hours because everybody had a few drinks. So everybody was talking more to each other and the atmosphere was very nice. After dinner we visited another pub and celebrated until late night.

Alright, so on this pictures you can see some attractions in Melbourne. There are many things to photograph but I decided for only a few things. We went on a citytour with all the international students and walked almost through the whole city. In the Rialto Hotel we had a perfect view 65floors above everybody. On one picture you can see the tennis courts where they played matches for the Australian Open. And again I took some pics of downtown Melbourne, it’s just so beautiful. Furthermore you can see the grand prix lap from Formula One. It’s on the picture where the lake is surrounded. On th other picture there is the port of Melbourne, just where the huge ship is arriving. Melbourn is also know for it’s art and they also show it a lot on the street as you can see. Then the stadion where they play every weekend Rugby and Melbourne people just love this sport. On the picture with the yellow building, that’s kind of a Main Train Station. It’s very old and looks like a castle from the outside. And finally the beautiful sunset in the middle of winter. So as you see I spent lots of time in downtown showing you all the impressions I get.

On the following picture you can see landmarks
of the Great Ocean Road. We escaped the city for a weekend and drove along the
coast towards the west of Melbourne. We got a stunning impression when we saw
the twelve apostles – rocks, which were separated from the cliff over the
years, located in the ocean not far apart from the canyon. We also had a nice
view at the bay just enjoying the silence and the sounds of the ocean. |
